Based on pure belief that there’s no such thing as coincidence and everything happens as it should.
Alice (Alicia Witt) is a perfectly innocent, wise young woman, who wants to hold on to her father’s memory by keeping his store. It’ more about following her heart than her pocketbook.
Her current (and wrong-for-her) fiance, who is in real estate, encourages her to sell her memories (the store) and become a multi-millionaire because of the store’s location. Alice realizes this man has no sensitivity or understanding of her feelings and who she really is.
She travels solo to meet her fiance’s family, as he is tied up at a meeting and will come in a day or so. While at the airport, she meets another man, Matt (Mark Wiebe), in the most peculiar and humorous way. His brother’s name is the same as her fiance’s from the same town. Naturally, both Alice and Matt think this is the family she is meeting. Alice falls in love with Matt’s family, their traditions and their heart-felt stories about their family as she’s waiting for her fiance to arrive.
The truth is, she’s been at the wrong house. Her fiance is Will Smith, Matt’s brother is Billy Smith.
As it is said so beautifully in this movie, “Life is about Timing, and Timing is Everything in Life and Love.”
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts”
