"Miss Christmas"

Being loved and belonging is a precious gift.

Holly (Brooke D’Orsay) is called Miss Christmas as she is the person who hunts down Chicago’s yearly Christmas Tree. As the tree is being transported, it is sideswiped by a crane and is ruined. Holly claims as “Miss Christmas” she will find another tree and get it there in 10 days.

She begins thumbing through the thousands of letters from people who have written to her during the year about their tree becoming Chicago’s Radcliff Center tree.

Discouraged after opening nearly all of the letters, she opens one from a little boy named Joey McNary (Luke Roessler) who sends her a photo of the most magnificent tree; however, there’s no address! She decides to drive to Claus, Wisconsin where the letter came from hoping someone will know how to find this family by name.

As she arrives in town, she stops and speaks to some of the towns people who are putting together their Christmas Festival. Unfortunately, the first person she speaks to is a very resistant man named Sam (Marc Blucas). Sam does not like the Christmas holidays and almost wouldn’t mind skipping them. They banter back and forth for a bit; then Holly decides to get on her way. She drives to the town’s B & B, and as she is registering inquires with the owner if she by chance knows the McNary family. Not only did she know the family she happens to be Amy McNary, Joey’s aunt.

After hearing Holly’s story, Amy takes Holly to her family farm to meet Joey and see the tree. She also wants to introduce her to Joey’s dad, her brother, Sam. The same Sam Holly already had an encounter with earlier. Sam had no idea his son, Joey, wrote to her about their family tree. The rest of the family, however, is open to listening to Holly about the history of the Radcliff Tree. As Holly spends more time with the family, Sam begins to soften a bit, but still does not want to part with the family tree. Holly understands Sam’s sentiment as the tree was planted by his parents years ago. His mom recently passed, and he feels comfort having the tree remain on their property.

As the story continues, Sam does begin to see how his family would love to see his mom’s memory celebrated by having the tree at Chicago’s Radcliff Center and reconsiders. During this period not only does Sam begin to have feelings for Holly, but Holly is feeling the same and also realizes how much she’s been missing being part of a real family, as she has been on her own for some time.

Sam, unfortunately, overhears a conversation Holly was having on the phone and completely misunderstands what was said. He’s hurt, angry and accuses her of acting like she loved his family, just to get the tree. Holly, totally stunned and angry, tells Sam the truth about the phone call he overheard, then abruptly she leaves and without the tree. Another tree has been found for the Radcliff Center, so the issue now is, how is Sam going to tell Holly what a serious mistake he made.
