"Looks Like Christmas"

Carol (Ann Heche) is the friend that everyone wishes they had. She plans everything, from Holiday dinners, early Christmas Shopping, she coordinates her son’s school’s holiday events, in addition to having a successful career as a Real Estate Agent. She’s been in charge of the school’s program for years and everyone seems to let Carol do it her way and do the work that goes with it. Until one day a new dad comes to town who has promised his daughter to get more involved in her school activities. The dad, Terry Evans (Dylan Neal), attends the first meeting to coordinate the holiday school event; and he does not hold back his new ideas for the program. This is challenging for Carol, as she is very comfortable with no changes. You can imagine, this is going to be a stressful relationship.

Carol, by the way, is a divorced woman with a son whose husband left her. She is very guarded and has not had a relationship since. Terry, a widower and single dad, seems to want to get to know and understand the town’s “Christmas Carol” as she is referred to. He tries many ways to soften her resistance towards him and tries to open her up to new ideas for the Christmas program. Carol continues to be irritated, but with persistence by Terry, Carol’s guard begins to come down.

Carol’s son and Terry’s daughter have formed a friendship and study together. This has brought Carol and Terry together more than usual. Terry has just moved into town and is not yet settled. Carol and her son go over to Terry’s house to help them decorate and even to share some of their decorations. (Carol’s house has been fully decorated since the day after Thanksgiving.) As Terry is attempting to put some kind of a meal together for them, it’s obvious he’s not that great in the kitchen. Carol, of course, takes a few ingredients and creates a wonderful meal for all.

As these events bring Carol and Terry together, they find they are falling in love. Will Carol allow herself to be vulnerable again? Will Terry learn that his daughter’s performance in the holiday event is more important than his over demanding career? Each have realizations that they are being challenged with by the other. You’ll enjoy all of the holiday spirit in this movie.
